Warwick Jones‘We operate a growing tennis coaching business here in Hamilton, New Zealand. We specialize in ‘grassroots’ tennis for children aged from 5 years old and have been thrilled at being able to offer this value-added service to students at our Club and various school venues. This fantastic tool has enabled us to track our student’s progress with greater accuracy and encourages healthy competition in a fun and encouraging environment.

It also means that we are able to offer class spaces with students of similar abilities and ITN. Parents have also been very enthusiastic and take a keen interest in their child’s development and ITN Assessment days.

Our students get very excited about being able to see their name on the website, compare their results with fellow students and track their own progress charts.

The ITN has also been invaluable for the planning of our adult and junior tournaments. Based around the ITN number, we can plan tournaments for the different levels of players and offer well-planned and structured events.

We would definitely recommend the implementation of the ITN to any Club or coaching venue.”

Stefan Duesing - The American Club - SingaporeHello, my name is Stefan Duesing and I'm the Tennis Director at the American Club in Singapore.

I work along side 7 tennis coaches and work with around 300 kids, 50 men and 100 ladies of all ages and different skill levels each week. We implemented the ITN around 12 month ago in order to help people to understand what service to sign up for as we have a large amount of different programs and clinics.

We also have an arrangement with the AWA (American Women's Association) to rate all their players prior to their tournament season. After completing an ITN On Court Assessment the players can easily sign up for a correct program at their own playing level.

In my opinion the ITN has proved to be an excellent tool as it adds credibility to our tennis coaching business as it looks very professional when the court is all set up with the ITN On Court Assessment Kit.

We enter the ITN score to the computer and then print out each players ITN certificate and either hand deliver and email the certificate to each player.

We have at least one tournament every month and we label each event using the ITN so that players know which event to enter.

Stefan Duesing
Tennis Director at the American Club in Singapore.

"I just completed my first ITN Clinic at Pambula Tennis Courts and entered the results in to the database. I have received a very positive response from the players, parents and coaches using the ITN rating as a means to assess the standard of the young players and where they can improve".
Trevor Hilton

"The Development Squad at Flinders Tennis Club were really exited to get their first ITN assessment and number and some of the parents were just as excited. The squad wanted to do the test again at the next coaching session.

The best part seems to be that it is on the website. Living in a remote town in Outback Australia, players feel isolated when comparing their standard against their peers. They meet and play the same people all the time, and it is not easy to get to the bigger tournaments. The comparison graphs make it easy to see where a player fits into the national and global scene and that helps to build confidence for players, parents and the coaches. The International Tennis Number provides me with a useful tool for setting measurable goals, and developing drills to help the players progress." Peter Duncan Level 2 Coach ATPCA

"I offer the ITN as extra activities for the students to participate in. I especially encourage my private students to do this to assist in our aims/guidelines for the following term. It provides great motivation for students to work on particular areas that they are weak in and a great affirmation for areas they are good at. Great for kids using tennis as part of their Duke of Ed Scheme - pre and post coaching testing". Fairlie Lamond - Supergrasse TC Warrnambool

"I think it's about time we have finally got a rating system developed that is recognised by all the coaches, players and parents. This will be a fantastic way for children to be able to set tennis specific goals and try to achieve them through their lessons". Monica Martinez - Avondale Heights Tennis Club, St Fidelis Tennis Club, Glencairn Tennis Club, Box Hill Senior Secondary College, Airport West Tennis Club.

"I think this website is an excellent tool for every coach to help their players to track their development and improvement in tennis. It's based on you not the opponent!" Teemu Purho - Tennis Finland.

"The response to the ITN has been very positive. We have completed quite a few tests now and are really seeing the benefit of the charts and comparisons on the website. It has added a new dimension to our coaching, along with the palm pilot stats the ITN and regular coaching classes we believe we are a step above the rest". The "In Search Of Excellence" Team Red Hill TC - Scott McLean, Reece Driscoll & Chris Dickson

"It's a great tool that should be introduced into all tennis clubs and I will certainly be using it with all of my coaching pupils in the future." Brad Hasler, Head Coach, Mayfield Park Tennis Club.

"The ITN system is a great way for players wishing to highlight their strengths and weaknesses and provides excellent motivation for them to improve on previous test results." Tamara Jungwirth, Carlton Gardens Tennis Club

I have conducted ITN clinics and have graded over 200 people at all levels at clubs throughout Queensland.

The ITN is an ITF, (International Tennis Federation) initiative and is currently being implemented throughout the world. It is an on-court objective assessment that will enable all players worldwide to be linked through one rating system.

I have found this assessment to be of great benefit to clubs and coaches by enabling them to create competitive matches by putting people of the same standard against each other.

The most important benefit of the grading system that I’ve witnessed is that it creates a desire in people to play the game more.

95% of the people I’ve graded have said to me they think they can do better next time they take the test.

For example, say they have an ITN rating of 6 (1 being professional level and 10 being basic beginner level). When I put their ITN rating on the international website at oncourtassessment.com this person can then go and see how they rate by checking how other people at their club have rated.

This is when it creates healthy competition, when they see someone they think they can beat with an ITN rating of 5. This makes them want to practice more and do the test again to try and better their rating.

The On Court Assessment can be taken any amount of times. I have seen the clubs in Australia benefit from this new rating system by getting more kids and people interested in tennis and getting them more active physically.

I believe it can be of the same benefit to clubs throughout every country worldwide.Sincerely
